John Rogers joined the Dallas City Attorney's Office in 1988. He is currently chief of the zoning section and supervises six attorneys on issues related to zoning, development, alcohol regulation, annexation, code amendments, historic preservation, platting, and the thoroughfare plan. He is counsel to the City Council on zoning matters. Formerly counsel to the City Plan Commission; Board of Adjustment; Landmark Commission; Zoning Ordinance Advisory Committee; and Building Inspection Advisory, Examining, and Appeals Board. He has experience in zoning litigation and advises the Litigation Division on zoning litigation.
