Served as an assistant city attorney with the City Attorney's Office from 1981-1991. Rejoined the City Attorney's Office in 1995. Primarily responsible for handling municipal finance matters for the City of Dallas, including the issuance and sale of the city's bonds, notes and other debt obligations. Responsible for supervision of attorneys in the general counsel division, as well as handling matters concerning boards and commissions, ethics advisory opinions, depository contracts, housing department, property management matters and special city projects, such as the American Airlines Arena project.

- Walker & Satterthwaite, Attorneys at Law (March 1991 - July 1994) - Established the firm's public finance law practice and ranking as "Top 100 Bond Counsel" by the Bond Buyer's Municipal Marketplace for the years 1992 and 1993. Served as co-bond counsel for the cities of Dallas and Austin, Texas, Dallas County, State of Texas, Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, North Texas Tollway Authority and DART. Served as underwriters' counsel in connection with the issuance of bonds, notes and other debt obligations for various other Texas governmental entities.
